<image:caption>Evocative of the coriolis force, the artwork references the complex processes of water treatment and works to make visible the often invisible infrastructure of water, power and sewer. Frequently overlooked, wastewater treatment makes the density of life in cities possible, and highlights the processes that occur inside the facility as well as critical aspects of environmental stewardship.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - Norie Sato @ Southeast Treatment Plant - When completed, the city’s largest wastewater treatment plant will be transformed into a resource recovery facility that smells better, looks better and works better. The facility is a recent recipient of the Envision® Gold award for sustainable infrastructure, designated by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure. The SFPUC’s many talented partners on this project include: Zahner, Sundt-Walsh, Carollo, incommon, AECOM, San Francisco Department of Public Works, San Francisco Arts Commission, and Norie Sato</image:title>

<image:caption>The urgent and multifaceted nature of our water challenges calls for new ways of thinking, acting, and investing. Water leaders across the nation are embracing the One Water approach—managing water resources in a more integrated, inclusive, and sustainable manner in order to secure a bright and prosperous future for our children, communities, and country. ArtPlace America and the US Water Alliance believe there is tremendous opportunity to utilize arts and culture strategies to advance One Water. As creative thinkers and doers, artists can be powerful partners for water leaders seeking to reimagine traditional approaches to water planning and management and connect with communities in new ways.
